Fly Lines subjects: History |
The fly line is a line unlike any other used
in fishing. Designed to be cast by a fly rod (as opposed to being pulled by a lure),
these are very specialized pieces of equipment that have as much or more to do with fly
fishing than even the rod itself. Each year there are more and more specialized fly lines available. Designed for meeting the needs of increasing species-specific fly fishing, they are nice to have, but they add to the "profusion & confusion." In this course we de-mystify what can be a complicated subject. You will learn the various types of fly lines available, their classification and composition, and what kind to use in different fly fishing situations. Learn how to take proper care of your fly lines, and how to make best use of their unique capacity to get our flies to our fish. At our various Outdoor Course locations, we emphasize the fly lines which are most commonly used for the species of fish and conditions of the local area. We are also able to cover in detail those fly lines which are specific to the needs of the individual student.
