Assistant Instructor: Katie Cole
Katie Cole works with
her father in directing and teaching the School's courses.
She is the Education Director for The School and is
responsible for our Education website,
www.schoolofflyfishing.org .
Katie is a 29-year-old native of Lincoln, Nebraska. She attended the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and finished up in Prescott College in Arizona. She has a degree in Environmental Science with emphasis in Outdoor Recreation.
Katie has 17 years of experience in fly fishing. She learned from her father, grandfather and great-grandfather. She guided fly fishing professionally in Colorado for 3 seasons. She has worked in retail sales selling outdoor/fly fishing equipment and clothing. She has caught Bluegill and Green Sunfish; Largemouth, Smallmouth and Rock Bass; Rainbow, Brown, Brook and Cutthroat Trout; Northerns and Walleyes; turtles and frogs on flies. As a staff member of the University of Nebraska Outdoor Adventures Program and companion program in Arizona, she lead student trips all over the US. She ties flies, builds rods and studied in Baja, Mexico, where she swam with whales & sea lions. She holds certifications in Wilderness First Responder and Swift Water Rescue and has a passion for sharing the outdoors with others. When not teaching our Outdoor Courses, leading trips whitewater raft guiding, or fly fishing, she likes to hunt, climb (rock, ice), scuba dive, sea kayak and bicycle.
