Learn How To Fly Fish

"FlyFishing New Zealand"

Skill:

"New Zealand's fishing is what our west was like 100 years ago."
Lefty Kreh

New Zealand is THE destination for fly fishers.  It is generally viewed as supporting the type of trout resources that we had in our western rivers in the United States a century ago.  "Lots of big fish" is the norm.

A multi-faceted fly fishing experience

This trip is designed for those who have graduated from one of our "undergraduate" courses, or those who have equivalent fly fishing skills or experience.  It is not particularly suited to the beginner.  It offers some of the best fly fishing in the world for large Brown & Rainbow Trout in rivers and streams on the South Island of New Zealand.

We will be fishing the Southland on several miles of the famous Mataura River.  Known for its fine mayfly hatches, particularly at this time of year, the Mataura holds fish in abundance and extraordinary size.  We selected this area for its variety and because it lends itself to fishing without a guide every day.  An abundance of other water is available during the 6 full days allotted for fly fishing.  There are 27 rivers and streams within an hour's drive of our headquarters.  We have also scheduled a couple of days in historic Queenstown and the opportunity to experience its variety of activities.

Limited to 8 guests

We will be hosting a group of 8 March 17-29, 2008.   The trip has been arranged with our old friend, Mike McClelland, of The Best of New Zealand Fly Fishing in California.  Mike has more experience in arranging fly fishing excursions to New Zealand than anyone.  Dana C. Cole will host the trip.  This 13 day trip includes two days of air travel (non-stop to/from Los Angeles & Auckland.)  The all-inclusive tuition is $4995 per person, double occupancy.
