School of FlyFishing Course Objectives
The School of FlyFishing was born to fill an unmet need: for people to learn the fundamentals of how to fly fish by combining both Outdoor and Self-Study instruction. There are other schools that teach these same principles, most being sponsored by large, tackle/equipment/clothing companies. Generally, these schools are conducted on the east and west coasts, and require more time, travel and expense in order to participate.
The School of FlyFishing is headquartered in the midwest. With our central location, we intend for our "Outdoor Courses" to be "easy to get to." Our "Self-Study Courses" are available continually on the internet, on CD or book form. So without a large investment in time and travel, in a short period you will acquire knowledge that might otherwise take years to learn. We de-mystify and simplify the sport for anyone who has felt, ". . . I'd like to learn how to fly fish someday".
Our primary
objective is to provide knowledge. The Outdoor
Courses are taught in
secluded, private settings, that allow us to devote a significant amount of one-on-one
time to each pupil. Self-Study Courses are as near as your internet connection, and are
presented in a simple, easy-to-follow format that is constantly updated.
This comprehensive, personal approach ensures that you acquire and become functional in the basic disciplines of fly fishing, or refine previously acquired skills, that will enable you to enjoy the lifetime rewards of FlyFishing.
Outlined below are some of the principles we teach at the Courses. (For more specifics, please go to Outdoor Course Curriculum. For information on Self-Study Course Curriculum, see School of FlyFishing Self-Study Courses.)
